[it's Alvin. being able to crack a joke or tease, even half hearted ones, is something he can do on the fly. most of the time. that and he does find her worries unnecessary and her just being. well. her.]

[good thing he is nearby so he's quick to catch her.]

Now who's the unsteady one?

[implying that maybe she's the one that has questionable alcohol levels but he knows it's not. at least. he'd be really surprise if it really was because of it.]

[ ... ] Must you be like this?

[ Grumbles.

You can set her down anytime now. ]

No, but it's does make things a bit more entertaining. For me, at least.

[and he'll set her down, but he doesn't let go immediately. a second, maybe two or three longer than one might normally expect. but then he withdraws to start putting things back the way they were.]

[ It confuses her to no end that after everything she did to him, to Jude, to him knowing about her past, that he can be like this. And it drives that guilt deeper. When he's busying putting away thing, she speaks again. More softly, this time. ] I really am worried about you, you know.

[ Maybe drinking and driving isn't the main cause of that worry, but she's using it as an excuse. ]

[there's a small pause, but he doesn't turn around.]

You know I can take care of myself.

[ And going to his side to help put away things, though there is not much. She says simply, ] I know.

[no there really isn't. he kind of wishes there was because now it's a bit awkward. particularly now that he's getting the feeling that her concern is more than just about drinking and driving. but he's not sure what to think of it, if he should be thinking about it at all.]

Trust me, I'll be fine. And I won't let anything happen to you either.

[meaning just the driving or something else...]

[ And everything is ready to go. She moves away now. ] Well, let's head back.

You think it's safe for me to drive now?

[a wry look as he double checks the hatch is locked, everything is secure, and starts to move toward the driver side.]

[ She gets shotgun. ] Professionally, no. But there's no use arguing with you.

[and once they're both in, he turns the ignition. back into the city they go.]
